Bringing Local Brands to Life Through Photo and Video

Before anyone walks through your door, they have already decided how your business feels. Here is how I use photo and video to make sure that feeling is the right one.

The short version

I make food photos, product photos, short-form video and full brand shoots for restaurants, cafes and makers across Northern Utah and Southern Idaho. Every project starts with your story and your goals, not with the camera, and ends with files that are ready to post.

  • Good visuals tell a story that words alone cannot
  • A shoot should mix wide atmosphere, close detail and motion
  • Consistent, on-brand content beats posting every day

Why visuals matter so much for a small business

When you run a small business, the way your food looks online, how your products are styled and how your brand shows up on video shape how people feel about you before they ever visit. A customer scrolling at night is making a decision in a couple of seconds, and the only thing they have to go on is what you have shown them.

I'm Sarah, and through Sarah Rasmussen Productions I photograph and film restaurants, cafes and creative businesses across Northern Utah and Southern Idaho. From small-town cafes in Preston to breweries in Logan and restaurants in Ogden, I have watched the same thing happen again and again: good visuals tell a story that words alone cannot.

Telling your story, not just showing your product

Every business has a story: the late nights perfecting a recipe, the hands that make the product, the team that keeps it all running. Those details deserve to be seen. When I plan a shoot, I'm thinking about light and angles, but mostly I'm thinking about you. How do I make someone crave that burger before they taste it? How do I show the care behind your drinks or your locally sourced ingredients?

That is what brand storytelling means to me. The pictures should be beautiful, but they also need a purpose, whether that is a behind-the-scenes Reel, a product close-up or a longer brand video.

What I offer

  • Food photography and video: menu items, drink specials and seasonal features that make people hungry.
  • Product photography: clean, creative shots of what you make, for online shops, packaging and social media.
  • Reels and short-form video: quick videos for Instagram, TikTok and Facebook that tell your story in seconds.
  • Commercial brand shoots: cohesive photo and video content for your whole brand.
  • Monthly content packages: ongoing sessions that keep your feed fresh and on-brand all year.

Each project is built around your goals, your budget and your audience. One shoot or an ongoing plan, the visuals should support your marketing, not just your look.

How a shoot with me works

People ask what working with me is like, and the honest answer is that it is personal. It starts with a conversation about what makes your business different, who your dream customers are and what kind of content you like. From there I build a shot list and creative direction around your goal, whether that is more sales, more awareness or more engagement.

On the day, I capture a mix of three things:

  • Wide lifestyle shots that show the atmosphere and experience
  • Close-up food and product shots that show texture and detail
  • Motion clips and transitions for video

Afterward I handle editing and color, and deliver everything through an online gallery, sized for web, print and social.

People can tell when something was made with care, and that trust is what turns followers into customers.

Social media that works for you

You do not have to post every day or chase every trend. You need intentional, consistent content that sounds and looks like you. My content packages mix short videos, lifestyle photos and product shots so you have weeks of ready-to-post material. In my experience, the difference between a business that struggles online and one that thrives usually comes down to consistent, good visuals.

Local stories, from Bear Lake to Ogden

Communities here value connection and authenticity. Your audience does not just want a product; they want to know who is behind it, whether you are a family restaurant that has been in the neighborhood for decades, a new coffee shop, or a maker pouring yourself into small batches. Before we shoot, we talk through your goals, your audience and your brand feel, modern and minimal or warm and natural. My favorite moment is when a client sees the gallery and says "this is so us."

Business Tip

Before your next shoot, write down three words you want customers to feel when they see your brand. Send them to your photographer. Every lighting, prop and location decision gets easier when everyone is aiming at the same three words.
