Farm and Food Photographer and Videographer in Richmond, Utah

Richmond is a small town at the north end of Cache Valley with a very clear identity: dairy. I'm Sarah Rasmussen, Sarah Rasmussen Productions is my commercial photo and video studio just down the road in Smithfield, and Richmond is one of my favorite places in the valley to point a camera, because the farms are the scenery.

Richmond

What businesses in Richmond usually need.

If you make cheese, milk, beef, jam or anything else that started on a farm, you also have the easiest content weekend of the year, Black and White Days, when the whole valley is thinking about the same thing you make.

  • Product on the farm, not on a white table. A wedge of cheese held up in a pasture tells a visitor more than a paragraph on your About page.
  • Animals in the frame, allowed to misbehave. Nobody scrolls past a curious cow.
  • Two or three objects that already live on your property next to your product in good light: hay, a feed bucket, a gate, a saddle.
  • A "where to find us" post with one good product photo and the plain details before the weekend.
  • A lineup shot of several flavors in one frame, plus a horizontal from the pasture that works as a website banner.

From a shoot

Cheese in the pasture.

The photos that explain this best are from a summer shoot at Rockhill Creamery, the farmstead cheese maker right there in Richmond. Cheese, sky, field. A cow reading the label up close. Cheese on a saddle, which nobody in Cache Valley needs explained. That shoot was sorted into four jobs, the table, the place, the hands and the proof, so it could carry a whole summer of Saturday market posts. For the record, not a single black and white cow in the whole set. That's the kind of photo a farm brand should already have in the bank before Black and White Days starts, so the weekend itself can be short vertical clips and the Monday after can be the recap.

Pricing

What it costs in Richmond.

A Brand Kickoff Session for first-time clients is $950: one hour on your farm, 50 edited photos, two short videos, full rights, delivered within a week. A monthly content partnership starts at $1,800 a month if you want a recurring shoot day through the seasons. Richmond is a few minutes from Smithfield, inside Cache Valley, so travel is included.

FAQ

Questions from Richmond.

When should we shoot for Black and White Days?
Before it. The pre-weekend post needs product-on-the-farm photos, and the weekend is for capturing, not producing.
Our product is beef, not cheese. Same approach?
Same. The land, the animals and your hands. The label changes, the frames don't.
Can you handle the posting too?
Yes. The Full social media plan covers the monthly shoot day, 12 posts and 4 reels, and your Google profile, festival recaps included.
