Why Showing Your Work Helps Customers Choose Your Business

The simplest marketing strategy I know is also the most effective: show people the work. Here is why it works, and what to photograph.

Assorted glazed and chocolate dipped hand pies arranged on a peach background
Crust Club, a spread of the finished work. Showing the result is showing the skill.
The short version

When people can see services being performed or results being made, they understand the quality and experience you offer. Photos and video of your process and results build trust that a written description cannot.

  • Show finished results, the process, and the tools you use
  • Visual content helps you stand out from text-only competitors
  • Capture your work regularly and the content takes care of itself

One of the most effective ways for a business to attract customers is just to show the work it does. I'm Sarah, and I photograph and film local businesses for a living. When people can see services being performed or results being made, they understand the quality and experience you offer far better than any description.

Ways to show your work

You can do it through photos of services or products, short videos demonstrating the process, images of finished projects, and behind-the-scenes moments inside the business. All of them help customers understand quickly what you offer.

A broken open hand pie with a chocolate cookie crumble topping and creamy chocolate filling
The inside, so customers know exactly what they are getting.
Two hands holding chocolate crumble hand pies, one broken open, in front of a green wall
Hands in frame show the product the way customers hold it.

Customers want to see real results

When people look at a business, they often want proof of what they can expect. Photos and video can show finished projects, before-and-after transformations, and products ready for customers. Seeing real results makes people more confident choosing you.

Showing the process builds trust

Customers are curious about how things work. Visual content can show the steps involved in a service, the tools or equipment used, and the attention to detail along the way. When you can see how carefully something is made, you understand something about the people making it. When customers see the work being done, trust follows.

Breaking one open is the clearest way to show the work inside.

The work you do every day is one of your most powerful marketing tools.

Visuals help you stand out

Many businesses rely only on written descriptions of what they do. Photos and video communicate far more clearly. They can highlight the environment of your business, the professionalism of your team, and the quality of the finished work. Those details make you memorable online.

Three hand pies stacked and cut in half showing jam, chocolate and cream fillings on a yellow background
Every filling, side by side.
Several coconut topped white glazed hand pies arranged on a peach background
Another flavour, shot just as carefully.

Video makes the process even clearer

Video shows movement, activity and real moments. Short clips of services in action, product preparation, and behind-the-scenes moments bring the process to life. According to Wyzowl's video marketing statistics, 91% of businesses use video as a marketing tool, with many reporting higher engagement from video content.

Showing your work in Cache Valley

Businesses across Logan, Ogden, Brigham City, Layton and Southern Idaho benefit from showing their work through photography and video. Brand photography, social content and commercial video document what happens inside a business and share it with people who have not walked in yet. When customers can clearly see the services you provide, they understand what makes you worth choosing.

Business Tip

Capture your work regularly. The best marketing content often comes from what you already do every day. Photos or short videos taken during normal work become social posts, website updates and campaign material, and over time they build a strong visual presence without a special production.

Sometimes the simplest marketing strategy is just showing the work you are proud of. Let people watch it happen.

I run Sarah Rasmussen Productions from Logan and photograph and film restaurants, shops, and brands across Logan and Cache Valley, from short seasonal menu sessions to full brand days.

Is your best work happening off camera?

Tell me about your process, and I'll plan a session that shows it from first step to finished piece.
